I-Con, April 2002, Long Island, NY
Our hotel room at I-Con was Room 136, and we had a party where we were nearly kicked out of the hotel for singing the Hobbit Drinking Song at 2am.

Cheese's Graduation Party, June 2002
This was Cheese's Graduation party in June. She graduated from the United States Naval Academy as a Marine 2nd Lieutenant. This was the cookout at my house the next day. Lying across the back is Alison. Next row from left to right is Sterlin, Elanor, Cheese, Dij, Stef, Pat, Me, and Tibby. In front are Fellowship9 and Gonzai. |

With Sean Astin in D.C., 9/11/2002
Here's a bunch of us with Sean Astin at an event he was MC'ing in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2002. From left to right, we're Alison, Sean (of course), me, Tibby, Gonzai, and Heather. All of us but Sean went out for sushi after. I hope his friend Todd fed him well, though. He commented that he hadn't eaten all day! Sean spent 10 minutes trying to get a shy and grumpy napless Tibby to shake his hand. More time than he spent with anyone else at the event. Ah well, she says, "Someday I'll be bigger and bigger and bigger, and then I won't be scared anymore and I'll shake his hand." Awww. |
U.S.S. Constellation with Elisif
Elisif came to visit from Norway, and Lori and Christy came down from New York, so the local Maryland loons took them to the Baltimore Inner Harbor to tour the U.S.S. Constellation. From left to right we're Gonzai, Me, Tibby, Alison, Christy, and Elisif. (Lori's holding the camera.) The Constellation is mid-19th century and U.S. Navy, but many of the Naval practices parallel those of the early-19th-century Royal Navy.
Click for a pic of the Master at Arms about to demonstrate the firing of a 20 pounder. He acknowledged that this particular gun wouldn't have been mounted here in the bow in real life, but that firing it at the restaurants in Harborplace might inconvenience the patrons. |
